Inaugural AAITF 2011 Queensland State Championships

02 Jul 2011
The first major event staged by the recently formed Queensland ITF Association Inc was the Inaugural All Australia ITF 2011 Queensland State Championships, which were held on 2 July 2011 in Brisbane.  The event attracted 50 competitors from Far North Queensland, Central Queensland, Wide Bay Burnett and South East Queensland.

The Queensland State Championships were fortunate to have Senior Master Robert Lai, President of the All Australia International Taekwon-Do Federation (AAITF), attend the Championships as the guest of honour of the Queensland ITF Association Inc. Senior Master Lai officially opened the event and spoke to the competitors about the importance of learning from their competition experience.

The success of the Championships was partly due to the support of corporate sponsors, which included:

•    Australian Provincial Newspapers, who sponsored the Seniors and Veterans Black Belt Power Breaking events;
•    St Paul’s College, who donated the use of their stadium;
•    Perry’s Party Hire Redcliffe, who donated portable public address systems,  barriers, tables and chairs;
•    Central Queensland Production and Engineering, who donated medals;
•    ITF Thailand, who donated the AAITF student oath banners and volunteers t-shirts; and
•    Worldwide Taekwon-Do, who donated the competition ring mats.

The Queensland ITF Association Inc would like to thank Senior Master Lai, umpires and volunteers for their support in the successful running of the Inaugural AAITF 2011 Queensland State Championships.

The Championships presented an opportunity for the majority of the 50 competitors to experience their first Taekwon-Do tournament. Many of these first-timers have expressed an interest in competing in future AAITF championships.

The Queensland ITF Association Inc will seek approval from the AAITF Executive at the AGM in December to hold the 2012 Queensland State Championship in Bundaberg during the September school holidays.
