Senior Master Lai was guest of honor at a recent Black belt dinner in Brisbane. The dinner was held at the conclusion of the “Umpire B” course attended by 22 Academy Black Belts. He presented Chief Instructor Coleman and newly promoted 5th Dan Sabum Lai with plaques celebrating their 20 years of instructing.
Both Sabums commenced training in Bundaberg in the early 80’s and without a break continue to lead by example. CI Anthony relocated from Bundaberg to Brisbane in the late 90’s and was promoted to Chief Instructor when I moved to Thailand. Whilst in Bundaberg CI Anthony conducted classes at several locations including the YMCA, St Mary’s, Coronation Hall, Gin Gin and Childers. Sabum Lau has been in charge of North High, Kepnock Hall and currently Avenell Heights branch.
The future of the Academy is in good hands with Sabums the calibre of Mr. Coleman and Mr. Lau prepared to dedicate their time and energy to teaching General Choi’s Art.
On behalf of the students and Instructors of the Academy I thank them both for their efforts and look forward to another 20 years of their support.
